Growing up in a small town in the southern part of Sweden I had a passion for sports like cross country, soccer, and gymnastics. I volunteered as a youth gymnastics coach all thru-out my teenage years. Many years ago my journey took me to Miami, Florida and I continued my passion teaching aerobics for some years.

I have an amazing husband, two beautiful daughters and a sweet Golden Retriever. I have a degree in Interior Architecture. Alongside my husband, I worked in the ministry for a decade and lived in Nashville, Tallahassee, Los Angeles, New Orleans & Northern Virginia, during the many moves, I kept my running shoes as a constant.

Having to face Lyme disease, I found Yoga in 2008 and got certified shortly thereafter with Yogaworks 200 Hours in Washington DC. In 2010, we opened the doors to Balans Studio and before opening the studio I received my TRX certification as well. It has been an amazing journey to be able to share Yoga, TRX, Barre & Pilates with so many wonderful people and excellent instructors for many years.

My ‘Hidden’ Talent: Although not a talent but a fun fact, I landed one of the Superbowl commercials in 1988 ( I know a long time ago:).

My ‘Weakness’ Taking a walk as the sun sets!

Nicole Stell

I, currently an eRYT200, was introduced to yoga in 2001 as a way to of lowering stress and anxiety. I had experienced panic attacks while attending Virginia Tech and wanted an alternative to control my anxiety. Subsequently, I attended the American Healing Arts Yoga School in Fredriksburg, Va. The training in Integral Hatha Yoga, also known as a complete yoga, was an extensive, two-year course, that focuses on asana, pranayama, meditation, anatomy. After many years of teaching I continued my training thru Shiva Rea’s Prana Flow teacher training.

Currently, with the combination of all the different styles of my training, I have been able to introduce a slightly more fluid approach to the art of yoga. The reason I became a yoga teacher is to introduce this amazing mind/body technique to as many people as possible. I am also a mother of two boys (twelve years apart in age), a wife , a caretaker, and a history enthusiast.
